The steel sculpture exhibition is a special dash of colour in the whirl of literary, dance and theatre shows, photo and art exhibitions. Among the works of art the steel sculpture exhibition also displays individual works made at the Symposiums on Steel Sculptural Art of previous years.
This year the cultural festival of Central and Eastern European significance, having been organized for 18 years now, was held at Győr. On this occasion again the festival had unique delicacies for the lovers of special cultural experiences. This year’s program of the festival represented a reminiscence of the international events of 1968; evoking partly the musical world of the era – Woodstock – and partly the cultic movies of 1968. The honorary guest of the festival was Jiri Menzel, who had gained world-fame with his movie “Strictly Controlled Trains” awarded by an Oscar in 1968.
The program of Győr was very variegated. There had been 1025 nominations from 60 countries of the world for the international film competition being the central program, and the jury had selected the high-standard program of the international competition from them. In addition to it the visitors could entertain themselves with folk-musical, and experimental alternative and electronic musical concerts. The main artistic trend was expanded by exhibitions, theatrical and dance productions, as well as culinary and nature-focused programs. All this provided hundreds of different cultural and spare-time programs for the visitors of the MEDIAWAVE.
